SCB Thin-film Intumescent Coating for Interior Structural Steel

SCB is the third generation solvent-based intumescent coating for structural steel, especially open-air structural steel. In a fire, it can be expanded quickly and formed a fire barrier to prevent the spread of fire. The unique properties of SCB are: fast drying, excellent fire resistance, good weather resistance, minimal thickness and attractive, deorative finish.

SCB is the first product of thin-film structural steel intumescent coating developed in China and it has been widely used in many large projects. It has been applied for a nuclear power plant in Pakistan , a sports stadium in Fiji and a textile plat in Micronesia.
Due to its outstanding processing and wide application, The SCB has been classified as National Key Produts in 1997 and granted Second Prize for Technology Development in 1999.

Apperance: white, vistcous liquid

Touch dry: 2 hours

Water Resistant: immersed in water for more than 24 hours without any defects

Acid Resistance: immersed in 3% HCl for more than 24 hours without any defects

Alkali Resistance: immersed in 3% Ca(OH)2 for more than 24 hours without any defects

Saltwater Resistance: immersed in 3% NaCl for more than 24 hours without any defects

Vibration Resistance: for flexure L/200, without cracts and peeling on coating

Bending Resistance: for flexure L/200, without cracts and peeling on coating

Stages: No cracks appeared

Freeze-thaw Resistance: Done 15 times without any defets

Fire Resistance:P It can provide up to 126 minutes fire resistance for 2 mm dry film thickness

¢ò . Application

•  First clean away the dust, grease and other contaminants on the substrate before application. Apply anti-rust paint.

•  Stir Thoroughly to an even consistency. A requisite 200# gasoline can be added to dilute the coating if it is too sticky.

•  SCB can be applied by brush or spray only when the air temperature is over -10 ¡æ . Apply evenly with a clean, well-loaded brush at less than 0.2mm dry film thickness(dft) unit achieve required thickness. Allow at least 4~6 hours drying between coats. It can provide up to 2.5hours fire resistance depending on the dry film thickness:

¢ó . Storage and Transportation


It is available in 20kg metal buckets. It can be stored for one year. Transport the same as those ordinary paints

¢ô . Caution

The Scb is a solvent ¨Cbase coating. Well ventilation is must during application. Fire is forbidden when SCB is under transportation or before drying.

The SCB coating should be applied by professional workers or undr the guided by our technicians . It's better not to apply when there is moisture condensation formed on surface or relative humidity over 90%.

All steel structural intumescent coating in China can only be used in doors. When used in open air, water proof Treatment for surface of coating should be used.
